I went with my son to the Y’s Rock the Block party today.  There were lots of fun things for the kids to do and lots of good information for the adults. Had an interesting conversation with Caitlin, who runs all of their camp programs.  Will be following up on that one.  Especially concerned to hear about the level of trauma many children are experiencing.  Heartbreaking.

Saw some old friends, including “Mrs. Beaudry” from my days at West.  Guidance counselor extraordinaire, she was.  Also bumped into Jen, one of my sister Laurie’s best friends.  Turns out both are very involved with the Y.

Other than that, it was a beautiful day listening to some great music, eating Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, having a burger and some chips (plenty of water, too) and watching my son have fun with the many events and attractions.

Many thanks to the volunteers, organizers, sponsors and the Y itself for hosting this fun event!
